A few months ago a friend of mine put a small workshop together for a few of us, on how to make a vision board.
For those of you who have never hear of a vision board I will explain what this is.
So basically a vision board is quite simply what it suggests, it’s a board on which you put your vision of the things you want to happen or want to have in the next year.
You will need to gather a few materials in order to do this.
You will need:
- large coloured card paper
- any decorative items you wish to use
Once you have everything you need I suggest sitting down and having a think about what it is you want in the next year.
What things would make you happy if you could accomplish them in the next year?
What changes do you hope to make in the coming year?
What material things do you hope to have in the next year?
Basically you can put anything you want on it. It Doesn’t matter how big or small it is, don’t limit yourself to what you want to put on it. It’s your vision board and you can put whatever it is you really want on it.
Once you have a clear idea of what it is you want then write everything down as a guide to help you out to find the pictures or words to represent this.
Then the fun bit starts. You can now start looking through your magazines and start cutting out the bits that you want to represent the things you want for the next year.
And you can now start sticking them all down in whatever pattern you like, remember this is your vision board so make it your own and add your personality into it.
Add any decorations you want to it, if you want glitter on it put it on, you want to draw things on it then go for it! You want to add pictures of yourself that’s ok too.
Anything goes really, it’s so very personal that it will look different for everyone.
Once your vision board is complete them you will need to hang it up somewhere that you can look at it every single day.
The key to making these things happen is to picture them happening every time you look at your board, have faith that these things will come to you. Why shouldn’t they? After all you deserve it all and more so dream big!
There is nothing stopping you from achieving the things you really want, all it takes is a little faith in yourself and knowing that you have the capability to make these things happen.
I mean don’t just expect these things to happen without any effort on your part though, it definitely will take some work from your side of things to start the ball rolling.
In my own vision board I have put up about starting my own blog and for many months I debated with myself whether or not I should start it but I knew that even if it was something I really wanted it wasn’t just gonna happen on its own. I needed to make it happen.
And I have! I mean I’m not gonna lie it was definitely scary to start with but I’m so glad that I did and that I allowed myself to conquer one of my fears.
I had nothing to lose and if in the end it doesn’t work out well then that’s ok at least I can say that I gave it a go instead of wallowing in my own self pity and regretting not trying it out.
You will never know how something might turn out unless you give it a go!
Keep this mental attitude when it comes to the things on your vision board that you want to accomplish and watch the magic happen.
You can make vision boards for anything at all.
Should you want to make smaller ones for a specific thing in your life that’s ok too.
For example, if you wanted to redecorate you livingroom then you could do a smaller vision board that has all the furniture and decor that you wanted in your new livingroom.
You can make a vision board for your wedding, for a party you want to throw, a holiday you’re planning.
Anything at all and the best part is that it’s so much fun to do and even more fun when you watch these things happening.
I hope you enjoy making your very own vision board and don’t forget to share your vision board on my Facebook page should you want to.
I would love to see your finished vision boards and hear all about the different things that you accomplish.
This is a picture of my vision board and a few other things I have added to keep me motivated when writing.
